Not initially looking to buy new, Sue Pollard wanted a character property near her family in Billingshurst. Sue found her home at Rydon Homes’ Woodland Place development and was pleasantly surprised that it offered everything she wanted, as well as easy access to public transport and nice neighbours!
“I had just sold my house locally and was looking to downsize. A new build was something I was not convinced about as I wanted a property that had the character and outdoor features that I thought you could only get with an existing home.
Fowlers (estate agents) introduced me to Rydon Homes’ Billingshurst development. I thought I might as well take a look as there were not any other existing properties locally that appealed to me and I found I was very pleasantly surprised.
It was early at the start of the build, but I knew the piece of land that they were developing as I have lived in the area for a long time and knew the woodland alongside it well. The location was good, being very close to Billingshurst mainline train station and to my family who live just down the road.
After looking through the floorplans and the brochure I realised it would be a lovely place to live and settled on Plot 6, which had just the right amount of interior and garden space, as well as the feature of the woodland alongside the development.
I really like how my new home has turned out. Despite being new the house already has good character with features like coving in the rooms, the stair case with oak bannisters and the trees that have been retained giving a reassuring lived in feel. I also like the layout, the sitting room in particular is a good shape. My friends who have visited all comment that it has the character of an existing home too.
I was one of the very early purchasers, one of the first to move in, and I am pleased with my decision. Rydon Homes organised a special welcome event with nibbles and drinks for the new residents to get together who are all very nice and there is a sense of community starting to build.
Now I have settled in I am working on my garden. The patio, garden shed and water butt were all included and to have the green from the trees around me makes a nice backdrop to my ‘brand new’ home.”
