Attention to detail was everything for Emma and Adam Newman, who made their first time purchase with Rydon Homes whilst organising their wedding! Commenting on their experience with Rydon Homes, Emma explains how we made their home purchase straight forward as they stepped into married life.
“We were looking to buy our first home and location was key as we wanted to stay close to our friends and family near Brighton. Having rented in Lewes in a Rydon-built home we were used to having access to Brighton right on our doorstep, but loved the character of Lewes as a historic yet quirky town. When we found out Rydon Homes was creating a new development in Hurstpierpoint, we knew that not only would it be a good property, we knew the area had a similar charm to Lewes, and it was close to Brighton, which suited us perfectly!
Buying new wasn’t something we had originally considered. We thought it would be too expensive until we started looking at Help to Buy – the government-backed scheme that enables you to get on the ladder with a 5% deposit. It has actually enabled us to buy a better home, but without stretching us financially. I’d definitely recommend it to any other first time purchasers as the application is really straight forward.
Laytonfields in Hurstpierpoint is a small collection of homes, just like our house in Lewes, where each has a unique character, and that really appealed to both of us – particularly myself as I’m a graphic designer. Our home is generously proportioned, something else we didn’t expect from a new property, and the layout makes it feel really ‘grand’ with details like double doors onto the garden and double windows bringing light onto the staircase and overlooking the garden. The flexible layout makes it great for entertaining too and also if we ever plan to extend in the future – we would love to stay here long term and keep this as our family home.
Off plan purchasing has been a fantastic experience. We had the pick of the plots and have been able to put our stamp on our home before we move in, escaping any building work or disruption that you would normally have with making a home your own. Rydon also invited us to choose our beautiful Stoneham kitchen from their showroom. I’m a stickler for detail in any design and we were able to make some changes to personalise our final layout, which just added to our experience.
This being the year we married, planning has been everything! Off plan purchasing has meant we had time to really consider how our first and dream home would look. Knowing all the room dimensions meant we have been able to choose our furniture in our own time rather than all at once and before things got too busy with our big day. Rydon was great in terms of our availability as we have been really busy over the last few months and Stephanie (Rydon Homes’ Sales & Marketing Manager) has been so flexible.
We really put our trust in Stephanie and our agent Clifford Dann. They’ve had our best interests at heart throughout and reassured us if we had any concerns, so important as we hadn’t been through this process before. The mortgage broker they recommended was so helpful and made it really easy.
As a young couple we wanted a home that was modern and homely, but importantly something that we could make our own. We simply couldn’t find that with an older property or any of the other new developments we visited.
We’re so excited about making Laytonfields our home and starting our new adventure together. It ticks every box and so many more. With all our choices on our house complete we’re now thinking about the garden and we can’t wait to put our plans into reality – the Rydon site team is even repositioning our shed for us as I speak!
