Step out of your new home at Waters Reach in Wadhurst and not only will you be in the heart of the Sussex High Weald, with views across Bewl Water and the surrounding landscape, but you will also have access to an abundance of leisure and nature inspired facilities right at your fingertips.
From Waters Reach there are miles upon miles of public footpaths, providing access to nearby Snape Wood, which is managed by the Forestry Commission and providing a mosaic of over 100 acres of mixed native species criss-crossed with paths edged by heather. It is also popular for dog walking. Immediately behind Waters Reach are several paths that lead down to the Bewl Water, which if you are feeling energetic could lead to walking the full circular route at over 13 miles!

Take a walk in one of the woodland trails or, during the summer months, hire a bike or ride a horse around this stunning 800 acre reserve. There is also a range of water activities on tap, with sailing available throughout the year as well as canoeing, paddle boarding, rowing as well as fishing and, for real adrenaline junkies, the aqua park!
Local gardens and houses
Scotney Castle is just a few miles away, where you can easily spend a day exploring the National Trust’s romantic 14th Century moated castle and its extensive grounds which extend to a walled garden and a wooded estate. Dogs are welcome too.
At Pashley Manor Gardens, described as ‘one of the finest gardens in England’, there are 11 acres of beautiful borders and vistas that feature all the ingredients of a traditional country garden. It’s the perfect spot to visit regularly for inspiration or to enjoy the views from the café and terrace.
An award-winning visitor attraction, Bedgebury is beautiful place to explore on foot or by bike, but also plays an important role as hosting a world-leading collection of trees (over 12,000 of them!) as our national Pinetum. There are events on throughout the year, from Gruffalo hunts to famous musicians, and there is also a Go Ape experience for those with a head for heights.
