Today, many singles use internet dating or speed dating to find long-term partners but, according to Rydon Homes, tend not to apply the same principles when looking to start a ‘lifetime partnership’ with a new home!

“Many homebuyers don’t actually write a list of priorities when looking for a new home,” says Natalie Flint, Sales and Marketing Director for Rydon Homes.  “They may have an idea of the area they’d like to buy in but everything else is based on ‘feelings’ rather than practicalities.  People wander onto new homes developments and say something like ‘I’m thinking of buying a three or four bedroom house…’  and it takes a lot of time to get them to think about what they actually want – for example, a south-facing garden, a good-sized en-suite, a kitchen/dining room rather than a living/dining room. We decided that helping people to focus on what they need and want – in the same way they do when they’re registering for internet dating - might actually help them finding a home that they’ll be really happy with and, hopefully, spend a lifetime living in!”

In January, Rydon Homes has just launched its new LOVE HOMES, LOVE RYDON, campaign based on the idea of house-dating which will hopefully bring a bit of ‘light heartedness' to the property world this year.  It will be web-based during January and carried into the advertising in February to coincide with Valentine’s Day!

“The whole concept of ‘house-dating’ is designed to be fun for home buyers,” adds Natalie.  “The copy has been written from the point of view of the house and is both clever and amusing!  It’s a far cry from the ‘doom and gloom’ of the pre-Christmas period and we’re hoping it will herald a brighter outlook for the property market prior to the usual springtime pick up!”

Currently Rydon Homes has a selection of properties at developments across the south.  A small selection of two, three and four-bedroom houses are available at Bourn Meadows which enjoys a lovely rural setting adjacent to a spacious new village green in Kirdford, West Sussex. At Sunnybrooke, Uckfield, a few fabulous four and five-bedroom homes overlooking a wildlife area remain available and at Merchants Mews in Canterbury, there’s a selection of spacious two and three-bedroom houses.
