The Halifax’s news that, in January, average house prices rose for the first time in a year comes as no surprise to Rydon Homes. The leading housebuilder has noticed an upsurge in visitors – and, indeed, in sales over the last month.

Throughout the recent months, we have continued to achieve sales but there’s been a flurry of activity over the last couple of weeks that suggests confidence in the market is rising,” comments Natalie Flint, Sales and Marketing Director for Rydon Homes. “Some people come in and make very, very low offers for our homes and then seem surprised when we turn them down.  We are helping potential purchasers buy with a number of schemes including part exchange and SmartBuy – and we can negotiate on prices but we are offering a range of outstanding properties in great locations and this is achieving results.”

“We believe people are getting ‘itchy’ feet.  Those who have been wanting to move but have been holding off are getting impatient now.  They are realising that if they price their property realistically, they’ll be in a good position to negotiate on a new home. London agents are reporting that gazumping is back with home buyers entering into last-minute ‘bidding wars’ to secure the property they want.  In fact, some agents report that they have had abuse from buyers who couldn’t believe they’d been outbid in what they thought was a ‘dreadful’ market!”*
