Linda and Malcolm were living in Harlow in Essex when they came across an article on Rydon Homes’ developments in a national newspaper as Linda explains:

“We had been thinking of moving for about a year to somewhere with plenty of nice walks, interesting places to visit, easy access to transport and not too far from the coast, as my husband enjoys being by the sea. We originally thought about moving to Saffron Walden but when we saw the article on Rydon in Sussex, we decided to take a look at what was on offer.”

“We checked out the Rydon website, investigated other new developments in Sussex and decided to spend a couple of days in Crowborough which was a good central point for travelling around the county. When we got there, we discovered Heatherview just around the corner from the place we were staying!”

“As soon as we visited Heatherview, we fell in love with the show home; it just ticked all the boxes,” says Linda. It’s big enough for us but not too big,” says Linda. “We have two daughters, one grandchild and another on the way and they’ll all be able to stay with us and, with good rail links. we can easily visit our daughters who live in south London. This is a lovely environment and the cost of living isn’t too expensive.”

The show home which captivated the Wookeys is a four-bedroom Ashdown house type with generously proportioned living accommodation including a drawing room, dining room, study, kitchen and utility room. Designed by Chris Daw of Claude Hooper Interiors, the design scheme features rich shades taken from a palette of purples, highlighted by silvers and greys. Even the garden landscaping echoes the theme with lavender planted alongside the garden path!

“The garden is lovely,” adds Linda, a keen gardener. “It is already landscaped and I’ll be able to add a few touches. What’s really nice is that the master bedroom has a balcony and we’ll be able to sit outside and look out over the garden and the countryside beyond.”

Buying a new show home makes moving in easy, but the Wookeys have cut out the hassles associated with selling by opting for part-exchange!

“We were a little concerned about selling our own home quickly in the current climate. It took us over a year to sell my late mother’s house; potential buyers kept pulling out because property chains collapsed so, for us, part-exchange was perfect! We didn’t want to lose the house we loved and the thought of going through the process of selling a property with all the disappointments was unbearable,” comments Linda. “Part exchange took the stress away.”

“When we visited Heatherview, it was the first time we’d seen a Rydon Homes’ development. We looked at other developers in the area as well, mostly bigger companies, but nothing compared to the Rydon Homes. We felt that they’d been finished really well and we felt comfortable buying,” concludes Linda.
