“We weren’t desperate to move but we’d already started to look to the future and our retirement. Wadhurst is a nice location and we liked our house but we wanted something that would be more convenient,” says Dianne.

“We began to wonder if part-exchange could be a possibility and began to look at new homes developments around Tunbridge Wells with this in mind. We thought that we’d visit Sunnybrooke, but when we got there we liked it so much that we reserved one of the new homes!”

Tucked away down a quiet lane, Sunnybrooke comes as something of a surprise. Fringed by mature trees and bounded by a wildlife area, it is difficult to believe that this development is just half a mile from Uckfield High Street and within walking distance of the mainline station! Dianne and Paul were immediately attracted by the ‘Natural Collection’ comprising large detached houses offering plenty of living space, huge windows and south-facing verandahs overlooking the gardens and the wildlife reserve beyond.

“We loved the layout of the new home we chose; it’s more open plan than our former home and has the most fabulous kitchen/dining/family room where we spend most of our time,” adds Dianne. “The house is lovely and light with lots of windows at the back where we get the sun all day long. The views are beautiful – looking out over the trees and fields it seems as if we’re in the heart of the countryside but we’re really handy for town and it’s easy for us to get to work in Tunbridge Wells and Crowborough.”

Dianne and Paul’s home in Wadhurst was ideal for part-exchange being worth less than 70% of the value of their new property. Rydon Homes arranged for a valuation by several local estate agents and then offered the couple a price based on the average of these market valuations. The fact that Rydon Homes part-exchanged their property meant that the Lokes didn’t have to pay agent’s fees or the cost of a Home Information Pack.
