When baby ‘made three’ for Gemma Elsey and Paul Stuart, they needed more space and a location that was closer to their families, so a house move was definitely on the cards. They left their three-bedroom house in Gravesend to start a new life at Rydon Homes’ Laxton Grange, on the borders of Swanley, Hextable and Petts Wood.
Laxton Grange is an exclusive development of three-bedroom terraced homes, four-bedroom detached houses and one-bedroom apartments set in a secluded location with an air of privacy and calm. The new homes are traditionally built of warm red brick, with tile hangings and porch detailing inspired by the Arts & Craft movements.
“We were living in a three-bedroom house but needed something more spacious when Sienna was born and we also wanted to be closer to my mum’s home so that she could babysit when I returned to work,” says Gemma. “We noticed Laxton Grange on the Rydon Homes’ website before it was even released. Although we were originally going to buy a three-bedroom house, we decided to go for four-bedroom detached home so we won’t have to move again!”
Gemma and Paul moved in September and are very happy in their new home, as Gemma explains: “Even though construction work is still underway on site, it’s very, very quiet here. We used to live on a big development in Gravesend, which was pleasant but too large. Laxton Grange is much smaller development with only 24 new homes. Some of the trees from the original orchard have been retained so the development has a ‘green’ feel and it’s easy to get into Swanley and Hextable.”
As Paul and Gemma are discovering, Laxton Grange is ideal for those who enjoy being outdoors. Swanley Village Conservation Area provides green open spaces, undulating fields and woodland as well as a ‘timeless quality,’ unusual in an area so close to the major road links and on the fringes of Greater London. Between Swanley and Hextable is the 60-acre Swanley Park, with wildflower meadows, miniature railway, paddling pool and children’s play area whilst Hextable has a village green and a 10-acre park with acres of natural parkland, footpaths through meadows, a wooded copse and sports facilities.
For the couple, shopping will be easy with Hextable, Bexley, Orpington, Petts Wood, Dartford and Bexleyheath all within easy driving distance and Bluewater, one of Europe’s largest shopping centres, just over five miles away.
Laxton Grange is also perfectly located for commuters; although it’s surrounded by green belt land, Swanley is within easy reach of junction 3 of the M25 and junction 1 of the M20/A20 via the B2173. Paul works in Bexleyheath and, as he leaves for work very early in the morning, he can be there within about 10 minutes! By train, it’s only about 15 minutes from Swanley to Bromley, about 20 minutes to Dartford and less than 40 minutes’ journey to London.
For further information on the new homes at Laxton Grange, where prices start from £250,000 for a three-bedroom terraced house and, using SmartBuy, it could be possible to buy for as little as £200,000, please contact the Rydon Homes’ sales team on 01322 619869.
